Arrival in Quito

Welcome to Quito! It is the most visited city in Ecuador due to its cultural wealth and is considered the "Reliquary of Art in America." It was the first city to be declared a UNESCO "Cultural Heritage of Humanity." The city is surrounded by the Pichincha, Antisana, Cotopaxi, and Cayambe volcanoes, forming the Andean contour.A private vehicle will pick you up from the airport and take you to your hotel. Depending on your arrival time, you may spend the day exploring Quito’s old town and surroundings. We can help arrange a day tour (request in advance). In the evening, one of our guides will welcome you in the hotel lobby for an informative session at 6:00 PM to discuss details and answer any questions about your adventure. This first day is for acclimatization and information.

Quito – City Line – Papallacta

After breakfast, we will begin a tour of Quito's Historic Center, visiting the Basilica of the National Vow, Plaza Grande, the Church of the Society of Jesus, Plaza de San Francisco, and the Panecillo, where panoramic views can be enjoyed while discovering the city’s rich history and architecture. The tour also includes an experience at Yumbos to learn about the history of cacao and taste artisanal chocolates. After a traditional lunch, we will continue to the Middle of the World to explore the Intiñan Museum and its exhibits on ancestral culture and scientific phenomena. Finally, we will continue our journey and arrive at Papallacta in the afternoon, where you can relax in its hot springs and enjoy the natural surroundings.

Papallacta – Tena – Itamandi Lodge

After breakfast, we will head toward the City of Tena, often called the gateway to Ecuador’s Amazon. Around 12:00 PM, we will begin our journey to Itamandi Ecolodge. At the Arajuno River Bridge, we will take a 20-minute motorized canoe ride upstream to reach Itamandi. During the journey, the beauty and magic of the Amazon rainforest can be observed. Upon arrival at the dock, our staff will welcome you and provide a brief introduction about the accommodation and activities. At 1:30 PM, we will have lunch, followed by tubing in the afternoon, weather permitting.

After enjoying a delicious meal and getting comfortable, we will prepare for our first activity in the Amazon rainforest.

6:30 PM: Night Walk (optional ). A flashlight and camera are essential tools for this nocturnal excursion, allowing guests to hear and capture the sounds of bats, owls, some insects, tarantulas, frogs, and possibly snakes. If the sky is clear, we may also have the opportunity to observe a large number of stars.

7:30 PM: Dinner.

Tena – Itamandi Lodge

7:00 – 8:30 AM: Breakfast.

9:00 or 9:30 AM: After breakfast, we will embark on a walk through the primary and secondary forest. This activity lasts between 2.5 to 3 hours.

1:00 PM: Lunch.

2:30 PM: In the afternoon, we will visit a community to enjoy a cultural activity. A Kichwa Amazonian community will welcome us, and we will learn about their way of life and interaction with the forest. This visit will show a part of the Amazon that is not found on maps: the daily lives of Amazonian villages. Part of our visit will include sharing the famous “chicha,” a fermented yucca beverage that is part of their daily consumption and celebrations. We will participate in the preparation of this drink and try some traditional dishes. The visit will conclude with a traditional dance performed by the community's children, and there will be time to purchase crafts made by the local indigenous people. This small enterprise is crucial for supporting the daily life of the indigenous people in the area.

Tena – Baños de Agua Santa

Early in the morning, we will take a bird-watching excursion, observing parrots and macaws if weather conditions allow. After breakfast, we will check out and continue our journey to the City of Baños, where we will explore the Route of Waterfalls, one of the most popular activities in Baños. Every year, thousands of tourists enjoy this magnificent tour filled with stunning landscapes and impressive waterfalls. The route is about 15 kilometers long, with many waterfalls decorating the scenery, including one of the most famous and spectacular in the country: the Pailón del Diablo.

Baños de Agua Santa – Riobamba – Chimborazo Volcano

After breakfast, we will visit the Tree House, a place known for i ts stunning view of the Tungurahua Volcano.

We will then continue on the road to the City of Riobamba, famous for its imposing Chimborazo Volcano. This visit offers a unique experience in nature, where you can admire the majestic landscape of Ecuador’s highest mountain. With its snow-capped peaks and breathtaking panoramic views, this volcano is ideal for hiking and photography. The proximity to the closest point to the sun also gives a special sense of connection with the earth.

Riobamba – Ingapirca Archaeological Complex – Cuenca

After breakfast, we will head towards the City of Cuenca, with a stop at the Ingapirca Archaeological Complex. This is the most important site of the Cañari culture and the only significant vestige of the Incan presence in Ecuador’s Andean region. Located in the province of Cañar, this complex includes a main structure known as the Temple of the Sun, surrounded by terraces and stone walls. Ingapirca is an impressive example of the fusion of Cañari and Inca construction techniques, with a design oriented towards the sun and astronomy.

In the afternoon, we will arrive in Cuenca.

Cuenca - City Tour

After breakfast, we will begin a tour of the main attractions of Cuenca, declared a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site.

We will start with a visit to Parque Calderón, the heart of the city, surrounded by historic buildings. Facing the square are the majestic Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception (New Cathedral), famous for its blue domes, and the Cathedral of the Shrine (Old Cathedral), which today functions as a religious museum.

We will then continue to the Plaza de las Flores, recognized by National Geographic as one of the most beautiful flower markets in the world, where we will enjoy local traditions in a colorful setting.

Next, we will visit the Panama Hat Museum, where we will learn about the history and the process of making the famous paja toquilla hat.

To enjoy a panoramic view of the city, we will head up to the Turi Lookout, from where we can admire the vastness and beauty of Cuenca, surrounded by mountains.

Finally, we will visit the Tomebamba River and its surroundings, a picturesque area that combines nature with colonial architecture, perfect for walking and taking photographs.

Cuenca – Cajas National Park – Guayaquil

After breakfast, we  will make a brief stop to explore the park, famous for its stunning landscapes of mountains, high-altitude plains, and over 200 glacial lakes. Its biodiversity is remarkable, housing various species of flora and fauna, including some endangered ones.

In the afternoon, we will arrive in the City of Guayaquil and have free time to explore its main tourist attractions.

Guayaquil – Galápagos – Transfer In – Highlands – Gemelos Craters

After a delicious breakfast, one of our guides will meet you to transfer you to the airport for your flight to the Galápagos Islands. Upon arrival at Baltra Island, you will be picked up and transferred to Santa Cruz Island by ferry. From there, we will continue by car to the highlands of Santa Cruz. These highlands are home to the iconic giant Galápagos tortoises. At a private ranch, you will be able to walk in search of these giant tortoises. During this visit, we will also explore some lava tunnels, which form when the surface of a lava flow solidifies. After the tour, you will continue by private vehicle to your hotel. You will meet with your local guide, who will explain the itinerary for the following day. Enjoy the rest of the afternoon free to relax and explore this beautiful island.

Bay Tour 

After a delicious breakfast, at approximately 08:30 we will take a walk to the Main Pier, where we will board a boat authorized by the Galápagos National Park for about 15 minutes of navigation to Punta Estrada. From the boat, we will be able to observe blue-footed boobies, frigatebirds, gulls, and other seabirds.

After this, we will go snorkeling in Franklin Bay for approximately 45 minutes. Snorkeling equipment will be provided free of charge for anyone who wishes to use it. In this area, you will be able to see a wide variety of colorful fish of different sizes, sea turtles, small sharks, and more.

Next, we will head to another site called Shark Channel, located in Punta Estrada. Here we will disembark to visit the channel, which was formed by swelling magma chambers. In this area, we will be able to observe white-tip reef sharks (locally known as tintoreras), which are completely harmless.

Afterwards, we will continue to Las Grietas. To reach this site, we will walk for about 15 minutes, passing by the salt mines. Las Grietas is a natural pool where the saltwater from the sea mixes with freshwater from the highlands of the island. The water filters through the cracks in the volcanic rock and gathers here, creating a unique place ideal for swimming with fish and snorkeling. It also offers excellent opportunities for photography.

We will return to the hotel at approximately 12:30 pm, followed by lunch and a free afternoon.

Charles Darwin Scientific Station – Transfer to San Cristóbal

In the morning, we will visit the Charles Darwin Research Station to learn more about the endemic species seen in nature, as well as the ongoing conservation and management efforts in the Galápagos Islands.

In the afternoon, we will travel by fast boat to San Cristóbal Island. Upon arrival, we will check into the hotel.

Navigation to Leon Dormido (Kicker Rock)

Breakfast at the hotel. Departure at 09:00 to Kicker Rock (León Dormido) aboard a fiberglass boat. This is one of the best places for surface diving (snorkeling), where you will have the opportunity to observe blacktip sharks, whitetip reef sharks, Galápagos sharks, eagle rays, sea turtles, and a variety of fish. You will also see the magnificent islet rising about 500 feet above the ocean, shaped like a giant sleeping lion hence its name.

The rocks are the remains of a vertical formation of tuff stone and serve as a favorite nesting site for several species of seabirds. Lunch will be served on board. Afterwards, we will head to the beach where you can enjoy the sun, relax, swim, or simply take a walk along the shore.

At 16:30 we will return to the port and transfer to the hotel

Transfer Out – Departure.

Enjoy free time this morning before being transferred to San Cristóbal airport. Our trip will conclude today, and you will depart on your international flight.
